Suffering is not Required

If we experience a hurricane and our house is damaged, the fear and worry we experienced while it was happening is physically, mentally, and emotionally stressful to say the least. Later, when we recall that situation, our body, mind, and emotions will react in a similar way. Just the thought of an imagined terrible situation can cause emotional and physical pain.

When we feel and experience anger, fear, worry, and other difficult emotions we suffer. If they are from the past or future and we can see them, we have the power to let them go. The traumatic ones will be hard to let go, but the common everyday issues are much easier to work with. We can work on the more difficult ones when we become stronger. Much of our suffering is not required.
