Learn to be in the Moment

When we are doing everyday tasks like mopping the floors, mowing the yard, or doing the laundry, our body is in the task and our minds are often someplace else. We may be thinking about what we are going to eat for lunch, what is going to happen in our morning meeting, what is going on over the coming weekend, or the thousands of other mental stories that are in our minds.

If we can keep our focus on the task we are doing, know when our mind wanders off and bring it back to the task, we can live more in the present moment. This is simple meditation. It allows the mind to be in the same place as your body, and it is a peaceful place to be.

If we can let the mind be in the present moment and not let our concepts, self-image, and habits project who we are, we can see choices for what is happening and choose better outcomes.
