Is Our Mind in Charge?

If you have not practiced meditation, chances are you rarely watch your thoughts, mental reactions, emotions, and sensations. Most of us feel that our mind is in charge and it is who we are. If we really look and watch our mind, we may be surprised at where it takes us. Our minds can go from here to there and back again in just moments, thankfully we keep most of the problem ones internally and know better than to speak or act on them. This is helpful to those around us, yet the issues are still going around inside our head. The more we think about it, or make a story about the issue, the more it becomes a habit or internal concept. These concepts grow and turn into who we believe we are.

Focus and mindful awareness are tools that help one watch the mind, emotions, and sensations. We are more than our mind and we can see, accept, and let go of much of the unhelpful mental issues we live with every day.
