Habits, Concepts, and Opinions

Look and understand the issues that are going through your mind, the desires and wants, and the difficult issues you are trying to push away. We can have such busy minds, but if we can see the mental activity for what it is and if it’s not needed and is not happening now, we can just let it go. The issues may come back, but each time they do they will be less and less powerful. Habits, concepts, and opinions are strong, but if we can just acknowledge them as issues of past or future and see that they are just concepts we can let them go. Don’t bury your head, decide if they are needed and helpful or not.

The big problem for most of us is we are not aware of them and we do not know how to work with them. If our mental and emotional activities are not helpful or needed, why do we keep thinking, making stories, and reacting to them? If they are not helpful, why not just let them go. Meditation provides us the tools to see what is happening in our mind and allows us to let go of the unnecessary.
