Be Happy - Let Go of Negative Emotions

Our emotions cause us to react in certain ways. Maybe years ago, in school, you may have been bullied by another kid. Here it is years later, and someone is rougher than you think they should be, and that time in your life twenty years ago comes roaring back. It is personal and it is easy to become angry with the person. Maybe they have had a bad day and you are over reacting, but the feeling is there and you want to get tough with the them. Various situations like this come up in most of our lives.

Our emotions and thoughts can be short and quick and give us helpful information. On the other hand, many of us hold onto them and they may not be so helpful. Over time, holding onto mental stories and emotions can become who we are and when similar situations come up, we react the same each time.

What has happened in the past or what we worry about in the future can affect us just as strong as what is happening right now. Our minds are powerful and allowing a situation to become real in our mind can increase our breathing, blood pressure, and heart rate, and it may be only a mental story and not what is truly happening.

Most of us do not understand that we can watch, listen, and see what our minds are up to. If we find our mind is filled with unhelpful mental reactions, emotions, or stories, and we can see them as such, we might be able to just let them go.
