Awareness Practice – Choose Happiness

Throughout the day, ask yourself simple questions. Is your reaction happening in the present moment? Are your thoughts, emotions, speech, or actions needed or not needed? Is your mental activity helpful or not helpful?

If the situation is happening in the present moment, work with it, but only until it is not needed and then let it go. If we try to put it off for later or hide the issue, and if it is strong, it may come back stronger. It is better to work with an issue that is happening in the present moment, but there is no need to hold onto it and make more of something that is difficult. Watch and work with an issue and when it is not needed just let it go.

If it is not happening in the present, you do not have to work with it and if you choose, you can just let it go. If it is strong, it may come back. Each time it comes back, and you see that it is something from the past or concerns about the future, you can see it for what it is and let it go.

You can also ask yourself if it is a helpful or unhelpful reaction or choice. If it is not happening right now, you can choose to just let it go, or if it sounds reasonable you can work with it. Watch and know what your mind is up to, see your choices and choose what is most helpful and reasonable.
